The Swindon Model
The Swindon Model outlines the approach used in Swindon to arrive at the priorities and their respective indicators to be included in the second round Local Area Agreement (LAA). The Model ensured an open and transparent process for managing stakeholder expectations whilst selecting the most relevant measures to be delivered through the agreement. The Government Office of the South West (GOSW) have described the approach as an 'exemplar' and 'strongly open and transparent'. Second Swindon Residents Survey (August 2007)
5,500 residents in Swindon were asked what they thought of their home town... the quality of leisure, their fears of crime and anti-social behaviour, involvement in decision making and the health and lifestyle choices they make.

Progress on first year of Swindon's LAA (July 2007)
We are required to report to the Swindon Partnership Board, Government Office South West and Swindon Strategic Partnership on a quarterly basis. The reports below show progress at the end of the first year of Swindon's LAA, they detail some of the excellent and innovative work which is going on in our Blocks. Launch of Shared Vision 2008-2030 (July 2007)
A Strategic Partnership Conference on Thursday 28th June launched the consultation document titled A Shared Vision for Swindon 2008-2030. We are looking for hundreds of local people to help create a vision of how we would like Swindon to be in the future. Full details are available at our sister website www.swindonsp.org.uk
Warwick report of Swindon LAA (April 2007)
Warwick Business School was commissioned by the IDeA to undertake an analysis of the trends and themes of round 2 LAA's. There were 66 pilots, with Swindon being one of the five in the South West area. The Warwick Business School report, which runs to 75 pages, singles out Swindon for special mention as a trendsetter.

This is it… months of preparation, consultation and discussion with strategic partners, coalitions and not-for-profit organisations is drawing to a close as we launch the Swindon Local Area Agreement.
Of course this is not the end of the project, only the end of the negotiation.
Now the challenging work starts:
- achieving targets agreed with central government,
- rolling out local solutions to local circumstances,
- freedom to cut bureaucracy by aligning multiple funding streams.
